Associate Degree

An associate degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities at the end of a course of study lasting two years. It is believed to be superior level of education of a high school diploma or GED, but less than a college degree.
The degree Foundation in the United Kingdom, the Higher Education Diploma (DipHE) in Scotland, and the top certificate in the Republic of Ireland can be considered equivalent European associate degrees. These programs are mainly provided through affiliated schools at universities. In Germany, the maturity can be considered the best equivalent to an associate degree, as there is a degree of dedicated partner. In 2004, Australia has added "associate degree" to the Australian Qualifications Framework. This title was given to more focused advanced academic degree courses. However, very few courses still use the new title.
In the Netherlands, there were four riders between 2005 and 2011 to assess the added value of the associate degree. In 2011 the associate degree was added to the Dutch system of higher education as a means to bridge the gap with the vocational training system
